3M Names William Brown Chief Executive
By Robb M. Stewart
3M appointed William Brown, the former leader of aerospace and defence technology company L3Harris Technologies, as its next chief executive.
Brown will take up the new role effective May 1, succeeding Michael Roman who will become executive chairman of the St. Paul, Minn.-based company.
Brown, 61, was chief executive and chairman, and then executive chair, of L3Harris from June 2019 to June 2022. He previously served as chairman, president and CEO of Harris Corp. before its merger with L3 Technologies in 2019.
Roman, who will continue to chair 3M's board, served as 3M's CEO since July 2018.
With the appointments, the company said its board waived the mandatory retirement age of 65 years for Roman and Brown.
