Telenor Partners With Nvidia to Support Nordic AI Push
By Dominic Chopping
Telenor is collaborating with Nvidia to bring artificial intelligence to the Nordic region, make its internal operations more efficient and create new AI opportunities and partnerships, it said.
"With this collaboration, Telenor plans to become a sovereign AI cloud partner of Nvidia, enabling generative AI across Nordic markets at the national level," the Norwegian telecommunications provider said Monday.
Telenor said it aims to use AI across its operations, from customer service to network optimization.
In the initial year of collaboration, Telenor plans to invest around 100 million Norwegian kroner ($9.5 million) in Nvidia infrastructure to drive AI adoption for its internal consumption as well as external business customers' needs.
The company said it will also use the partnership to explore software-based network solutions to simultaneously use 5G and AI technologies on a single infrastructure.
"This collaboration with Nvidia will help Telenor deliver cutting-edge solutions to our customers, drive innovation and efficiency across our operations, and contribute to the development of the AI ecosystem in Nordics," Amol Phadke, Telenor's global chief technology officer, said.
