Telco Partnerships Crucial for AI Expansion, Vodafone CEO Says
By Najat Kantouar
Telecommunication companies should work together toward building a new landscape for AI and open gateway and be open to collaborations, Vodafone Chief Executive Officer Margherita Della Valle said Monday.
Speaking at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Della Valle said that partnering with policy makers is crucial to enable telcos to use AI for their network and deploy it at a larger scale.
She added that Europe needs to create a new regulatory landscape to be more competitive and attract investments with a real 5G standalone regulatory framework.
In January, Vodafone signed a 10-year partnership with Microsoft. Under the agreement, the companies will offer scaled digital platforms to more than 300 million businesses. The U.K. telecommunication company said it will invest $1.5 billion over the period in cloud and customer-focused AI services developed with Microsoft.
