TUI and Ryanair Reach Flight-Booking Agreement

TUI will now offer Ryanair flights to customers, just months after several online travel agents removed the budget airline from travel websites.

The German travel operator said Thursday that the agreement with Ryanair would strengthen its strategic initiative for growth in dynamic packaging, allowing customers to choose from a wider range of flights. It added that these flights complemented TUI's range of flights, as well as existing connections with partner airlines, and that there was new potential, especially around destinations which aren't yet seamlessly connected.

TUI said the partnership's benefits--which include additional volume and flight flexibility--will make it more attractive to a new and younger generation of travelers.

"The cooperation with Ryanair will now further expand the range of dynamically packaged TUI holidays and at the same time achieve a further milestone in digitalization," TUI said.

Ryanair said the deal meant TUI customers could now book its flights, seats, and bags as part of their holiday package with the guarantee that they will have full price transparency on Ryanair products.

In December, several online travel agents decided to remove the budget airline's flights from their websites, something Ryanair said would protect customers from potential scams and booking changes, but also affected its performance in the third quarter.
