Eni Signs Strategic Agreements in Kazakhstan
By Pierre Bertrand
Eni said that it has signed strategic agreements with Kazakh companies KazMunayGas and with QazaqGaz, Kazakhstan's national gas company.
Eni said that it has signed joint confirmation agreement with KazMunayGas for a 250 megawatt hybrid renewable-gas project for Zhanaozen City.
"Eni and KMG confirmed their readiness to proceed to the project's implementation phase, which will supply KMG facilities in the area with low-carbon, stable electricity produced from solar and wind, and will be balanced with additional capacity from a gas power plant," Eni said Thursday.
The Italian oil and gas company said it also signed a memorandum of cooperation with Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna for additional energy-transition projects, including the possible application of the hybrid renewables model in other regions of the country, the assessment of mineral initiatives and the development of other carbon-emission-reduction technologies.
In addition, Eni said it signed another strategic-cooperation agreement with QazaqGaz focused on scientific exchange.
