Gold Fields Names Chaarat Gold's Michael Fraser as New CEO
By Christian Moess Laursen
Gold Fields said it has appointed Michael Fraser as chief executive and executive director with effect from Jan. 1.
The South African mining company said Monday that Fraser joins from peer Chaarat Gold where he served as CEO for nearly two years. Previously, Fraser was chief operating officer at a global unit of Australia-based miner South32 as well as an executive with BHP.
He will succeed interim CEO Martin Preece, who will continue in that role until Dec. 31, and remain with the company as part of its executive management.
Chaarat Gold announced Fraser's resignation in a statement earlier Monday.
