C&S, SoftBank Eye Stores Being Sold by Kroger, Albertsons, Bloomberg Reports
--C&S Wholesale Grocers and SoftBank Group are in talks to acquire most or all of the grocery stores that retailers Kroger and Albertsons are selling to help clear the path for their planned $25 billion merger, Bloomberg reports, citing unnamed sources.
--C&S has partnered with Japan's SoftBank for the transaction, which could be announced as soon as this week, the report said.
--Unloading of the stores is aimed at addressing antitrust concerns hanging over the Kroger-Albertsons deal, which the two grocery chains aim to close in early 2024, Bloomberg said.
