Madison Reed Names CMO and CCO as Brand Accelerates Omnichannel Expansion
Michelle Peterson named Chief Marketing Officer and John Sullivan promoted to newly created Chief Commercial Officer to support the brand’s next phase of growth
Madison Reed, the prestige hair color brand revolutionizing the hair color industry, today announced Michelle Peterson as Chief Marketing Officer and the promotion of John Sullivan to the newly created role of Chief Commercial Officer as the company continues its omnichannel growth.
As Chief Marketing Officer, Peterson will lead Madison Reed’s full-funnel marketing and creative functions as well as product innovation, shaping the development of the brand's product pipeline. She brings more than 20 years of experience building and scaling consumer brands across retail, lifestyle and CPG, with leadership roles at Kendra Scott, General Mills, Pressed, Life Time and Holiday Inn Express. Most recently, as CMO of Kendra Scott, Peterson led marketing during a significant period of growth, as the founder-led omnichannel brand expanded across e-commerce and more than 190 retail locations. Peterson brings the unique experience of having successfully helped scale a founder-led omnichannel brand, a perspective that will be valuable as Madison Reed continues to grow across at-home hair color and Hair Color Bars.
“I’ve admired what Amy Errett has built and the deep connection Madison Reed has created with women by reimagining the hair color experience. Hair color is a common thread among women and I’m energized by the opportunity to amplify that connection and bring the brand to even more women. I look forward to being a part of Madison Reed’s next chapter and continuing a mission that has been at the heart of the company from the beginning: unleashing women’s unstoppable potential,” said Michelle Peterson, Chief Marketing Officer at Madison Reed.
“Michelle and John are exceptional and values-driven leaders whose expertise will play critical roles during this period of transformative growth,” said Amy Errett, Founder and CEO of Madison Reed. “Michelle brings a rare combination of being a rigorous, data-driven operator and an incredibly creative, consumer-obsessed marketer, while John has made a tremendous impact on our business and brings deep commercial experience. As we continue to grow, he will be instrumental in ensuring we deliver a cohesive, consistent, and impactful experience across our at-home business.”
As Chief Commercial Officer, Sullivan will oversee Madison Reed’s at-home P&L across e-commerce and wholesale, as well as business development and strategic partnerships, expanding his responsibilities after joining the company in 2025 as SVP and General Manager of Wholesale. Prior to Madison Reed, he spent more than 20 years at Kao USA in senior leadership roles delivering growth across Kao Americas Region and growth markets. His promotion comes as Madison Reed expands its retail footprint into new partners and new countries.
“Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to see firsthand the strength of the Madison Reed brand and the momentum across our at-home business,” said John Sullivan, Chief Commercial Officer at Madison Reed. “Our goal is simple: to be everywhere our guests need us, whether that’s through enhancing our own e-commerce experience, deepening established retail partnerships, or cultivating new relationships in a way that consistently represents who we are as a brand.”
Sullivan's role overseeing the at-home business complements that of Nancy Bigley, who joined Madison Reed earlier this year as President of Hair Color Bars. The company recently opened its 99th Hair Color Bar and continues to expand its owned and operated locations, alongside its growing presence across e-commerce and retail.
