UPS Scales Seasonal Workforce, Eyes Ninth Consecutive Peak Season of Industry-Leading On-Time Performance
Enhanced visibility, package protection and pickup solutions help customers ship with confidence during the busy holiday season
UPS (NYSE: UPS) is entering the busy 2026 holiday shipping season with expanded shipping options. From helping customers precisely track their shipments to enhanced package protection, customers benefit from the reliability and flexibility of UPS’s industry leading end-to-end logistics network.
A key part of reliable service is UPS's RFID-powered tracking technology, which offers more precise, real-time tracking information as packages move through the network. UPS expects to deliver more than 4 billion RFID-enabled packages by the end of 2026.
“Peak season is one of the most critical times of year to deliver, and no one does it better than UPS,” said Matt Guffey, Executive Vice President and Chief U.S. Domestic Officer. “We’ve delivered industry-leading service for eight consecutive peak seasons, earning our customers’ trust year after year. We know what it takes to perform when demand is at its highest, and we’re ready to do it again.”
Kurt Goodwin, Customer Experience Executive for Crutchfield, a premium consumer electronics retailer, added, "UPS RFID technology helps provide greater visibility, reduces uncertainty and improves the overall delivery experience. For Crutchfield, that means fewer customer concerns, fewer tracking-related contacts, and greater confidence during the busiest shipping period of the year."
New Package Protection Offers Holiday Season Confidence
UPS is expanding solutions that help businesses and consumers protect important shipments during the holiday season. Protected Delivery, a new service for eligible shipments, requires recipients to provide a PIN to the driver before a package is released, adding an extra layer of security for high-value purchases and other sensitive deliveries. The service complements UPS's broader package protection and fraud-prevention solutions as shipping volumes increase during peak season.
This holiday season, UPS customers will also benefit from:
- Best-in-class UPS drivers: Backed by a longstanding commitment to safety and service, UPS drivers help ensure packages arrive when and where customers expect them.
- Greater pickup visibility: New scheduling capability and alerts give customers updates about the status of their pickups.
- Simplified returns: UPS and Happy Returns provide end-to-end reverse logistics options for businesses and their customers.
- Flexible delivery options: UPS’s end-to-end network offers premium air and ground service, plus Roadie offers local same-day and big-and-bulky delivery.
- Increased automation: New or enhanced automated facilities in Denver, St. Paul, Syracuse and Portland improve network efficiency and support service performance.
- Holiday-ready packaging: Customers can choose a limited-edition holiday express box creating a more festive customer experience from shipment to delivery.
People Powering Peak
Technology and automation strengthen the UPS network, but UPS employees keep it moving. UPSers sort, transport and deliver packages with the dedication that has helped UPS lead the industry in peak on-time performance for eight straight years. As UPS scales to meet the demand of the holiday season, the company is hiring 100,000 seasonal employees in hundreds of locations nationwide, offering competitive pay, flexible shifts that fit various schedules and a path to a permanent job. Many applicants can receive a job offer in less than 7 minutes, in less time than it takes to wrap a holiday gift. Visit https://www.jobs-ups.com to learn more and apply.
