International Law Firm Hagens Berman Launches Minneapolis Metro Office Focused on Consumer Protection
Firm that secured the largest settlement in world history and other record-setting victories in automotive, antitrust and wage-fixing class actions comes to the Twin Cities
Award-winning law firm Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP is opening its doors in the Minneapolis metro area, launching a new office in Bloomington to add to its roster of exceptional attorneys and international network of locations.
Hagens Berman represents plaintiffs in antitrust, consumer fraud, securities and investment fraud, product liability, tort, employment, whistleblower, intellectual property, environmental and employee cases, and more. Its clients have ranged from NCAA athletes to victims of sexual assault in Hollywood, Holocaust survivors, factory workers and the largest class of consumers in history in litigation against Amazon. The firm specializes in large-scale complex class-action litigation.
Standing up to Corporate Interest
With the launch of the latest location, Hagens Berman is also bringing new faces to spearhead its dedication to consumer justice. Joining the firm at its Minneapolis metro location are attorneys Rebecca A. Peterson and Krista K. Freier, two powerhouse litigators with deep experience upholding the rights of consumers, especially in the areas of product safety and liability claims.
“Hagens Berman welcomes the expertise of Rebecca and Krista and the passion they bring to securing justice for consumers,” said Steve Berman, managing partner and co-founder of Hagens Berman. “Their values-driven mindset is both perfectly aligned to our firm’s ethos and to what best serves the public in these times.”
Peterson and Freier come to Hagens Berman from Hecht Partners LLP where they focused on consumer-facing class actions. Freier’s experience in consumer rights actions and complex litigation includes recent appointment to case leadership. Peterson focuses on cases involving greenwashing, data privacy and other key issues affecting consumers today. Her achievements earned her the designation as Top Women in Law 2026 by Minnesota Lawyer, which also previously named her as Attorney of the Year. She has also been named a Minnesota Super Lawyer.
Hagens Berman’s Bloomington office will draw on the firm’s longstanding expertise in consumer protection where the firm has been awarded for the scope and scale of its cases, novel applications of the law, record-breaking recoveries, comprehensive injunctive relief and priority of class members.
Hagens Berman’s legal team brings three decades of experience, and a track record of ground-breaking verdicts and settlements which include historic settlements including NCAA college athletes’ name, image and likeness rights ($22.7 billion settlement), then the largest antitrust settlement in history against Visa and MasterMoney (valued at $25 billion) and the largest settlement in world history against Big Tobacco ($260 billion settlement) from which the firm began its journey.
The new office brings the firm’s total to 11, spanning from its headquarters and flagship office in Seattle to Berkeley, Boston, Chicago, London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Phoenix and San Diego.
Hagens Berman is a global plaintiffs’ rights complex litigation law firm with a tenacious drive for achieving real results for those harmed by corporate negligence and fraud.
