EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants Expands Michigan Presence with Acquisition of Korotkin Insurance Group
Acquisition expands vertical expertise across for-hire transportation, family entertainment centers, real estate and fitness franchise sectors
EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants (“EPIC”), a national insurance brokerage and consulting firm supporting clients across specialized industries and services, today announced its acquisition of Korotkin Insurance Group (“KIG”), a fifth-generation independent brokerage with over a century of operational history in Michigan. KIG brings a strong regional presence and specialized expertise across multiple industries and client segments to EPIC’s growing national platform.
The acquisition establishes a significant EPIC presence in Detroit and builds on the firm’s existing footprint in Grand Rapids. KIG will serve as a key anchor for the firm’s continued growth in Michigan and the broader region. KIG has established practices serving clients across for-hire transportation, family entertainment centers, real estate and fitness franchises, as well as private client and small business adding further depth to EPIC’s specialty-focused business model.
“KIG represents exactly the type of organization we look for as we continue building EPIC — a firm with deep expertise, longstanding client relationships and a strong presence in its market,” said Tom O’Neil, vice chairman of EPIC. “Their longevity is a testament to the strength of the business and the trust they’ve built with clients and their community. By bringing KIG onto EPIC’s national platform, we have an opportunity to build on that foundation while creating even more capabilities and opportunities for their clients and team.”
The firm, led by Emily M. Korotkin, Jeffrey S. Belen, JJ Reifler, Kyle Fenton and Matt H. Warsh, join EPIC as Managing Principals to leverage its resource-rich platform and expanded solutions for clients, particularly across specialized business segments. “EPIC's culture, resources and expertise made the decision to join the firm clear. Together, we'll be able to expand opportunities for our employees, deepen the capabilities available to our clients and continue building on the foundation of trust and service that has driven KIG’s success,” said Korotkin.
As part of EPIC, KIG clients will gain access to a broader range of insurance and risk management capabilities, additional specialty resources, deeper carrier relationships and enhanced technology. The combination also creates opportunities to bring EPIC’s employee benefits and other complementary solutions to KIG’s commercial clients while preserving the local relationships, community involvement and client service that have defined KIG for generations.
“At EPIC, our strongest partnerships begin with outstanding people, a shared commitment to culture, and specialized expertise, and KIG embodies all three,” said Dan Grelecki, president of EPIC’s Midwest Region. “The confidence their clients place in them and the reputation they have built in the market speak volumes about the quality of their team and the strength of their culture. While this partnership creates exciting opportunities to expand our Michigan footprint, our investment is ultimately in the people who have built such a successful organization. We look forward to what we can accomplish together.”
EPIC remains focused on attracting top talent and strategic acquisition partners that strengthen the firm's specialty capabilities and broaden its national presence. For more information about EPIC and its specialized insurance and risk management solutions, please visit epicbrokers.com.
