For women by women: how RAW dating app protects against scam
A group of young women from across the tech industry designed RAW—not “another” dating app, but one considered the best.
“Brainstorming such a potential product, for women by women, we only got carried away to reimagining the entire industry: dating that makes a woman feel good without pressures of first steps with suitors confident enough to show their faces safe from scam and abuse. And at some point, the fatigue made us feel along the lines of ‘it’s easier to make our own dating app than to keep putting up with the existing ones!’
To follow that vision, we designed RAW—not ‘another’ dating app, but one we consider the best,” - says Marina Anderson, co-founder of RAW.
Created to protect
The statistics surrounding online catfishing, scam, and abuse shows that 30% of US adults have interacted with a catfish online, with the number at 52% for Gen Z. Female victims account for 79% of the $500M losses incurred from catfishing. An alarming number of women report assaults linked to online dating encounters.
RAW is a solution designed to safeguard our fellow sisters with basically a fortress of features.
100% verification
RAW verification of 100% of the users via phone number is the first line of defense. It’s about making scammers’ and trolls’ lives difficult, if not turning them away at the gate.
Real-time realness
RAW is the only dating app that requires a new unedited two-way in-app photo every day to continue swiping. The arrangement, yes, makes catfishing impossible so you always know who you’re gonna see on that first date, but it also offers more freedom of expression—and ensures everyone is active and engaged.
Embracing the authentic you
RAW is the app where no one expects perfection or holds women to an impossible standard! In a place with filters and facetuning left behind, you’re spared the pressure to present anything but who you really are. And those industry-infamous hidden algorithms ranking your attractiveness and boxing you in — not on RAW!
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
RAW users' profiles feature lists of their red, green, and beige flags as reported by other daters. This feature helps to get to know the person better and keeps casual toxicity in check. That it also makes catfishers’ and scammers’ lives extra hard.
Ghosting killer
For every chat hitting the real dead end, users won’t be left in limbo. RAW limit on the number of unanswered conversations a user might have means when a ghoster reaches the limit, they need to go uncrush someone first.
