Irish consumer prices rise faster in September - preliminary CSO data

(Alliance News) - Ireland's harmonised annual consumer price index inflation rate was higher in September than in August, preliminary data published by the Central Statistics Office showed Thursday.

The country's harmonised annual CPI inflation rate stood at 3.9% in September, up from 3.4% in August.

Monthly, harmonised consumer prices rose 0.2% in September. This was lower than a monthly increase of 0.6% the CSO had reported for August.

Harmonised figures allow for EU-wide comparison.

Notably, energy prices in Ireland are expected to have jumped 15% on-year and 2.9% on-month in September.

Full Irish CPI data for September will be released around mid-October.
