Supplementary Security Income
Supplementary Security Income (SSI) is a U.S. federal program that provides financial support for those who are aged, blind, or disabled with limited income resources.
The program provides monthly financial assistance (and occasionally food assistance) to eligible beneficiaries. Unlike Social Security, SSI can be applied for regardless of the applicant’s work history. The program is funded by U.S. taxpayers.
