Modified Duration
Modified duration measures a fund’s sensitivity to changes in interest rates assuming no changes in expected cash flows, making it most applicable to option-free bonds; the longer the duration, the more sensitive the fund is to rate movements. Duration is influenced by coupon rates and maturities, with lower coupons increasing duration and shorter maturities or higher coupons reducing it. This measure reflects only the fixed-income portion of the portfolio.
