Narrow-moat Xylem started the year with a solid first quarter, delivering a 14% year-over-year increase in adjusted earnings per share, from $0.90 to $1.03. Despite tariff-related uncertainty, management maintained its 2025 guidance and continues to anticipate full-year adjusted EPS of $4.50–$4.70. We’ve maintained our $116 fair value estimate for Xylem, as our slightly more conservative near-term projections were offset by the time value of money.

After rolling our model forward one year, we’ve raised our fair value estimate to $116 per share from $113, mostly due to time value of money.

Stock Analyst Note

Narrow-moat-rated Xylem reported third-quarter adjusted earnings per share of $1.11, in line with consensus expectations, but the stock was down in early trading on Oct. 31 as the $4.23 midpoint of management's updated 2024 adjusted EPS guidance range was below the $4.26 FactSet consensus estimate and our $4.28 forecast. We’ve trimmed our fair value estimate to $113 per share from $114 to reflect our slightly more muted near-term revenue growth expectations, partially offset by the time value of money.

Narrow-moat-rated Xylem posted solid second-quarter results, with an 11% year-over-year increase in adjusted EPS. After a strong first half, Xylem raised its full-year guidance and now expects organic revenue growth of 5% to 6% (up from 4% to 6% previously) and adjusted EPS of $4.18 to $4.28 (up from $4.10 to $4.25 previously). While nothing in the earnings release materially alters our long-term thesis, we’ve slightly increased our fair value estimate to $114 per share from $112 due to time value of money. We see shares as modestly overvalued at current levels, and we’d prefer to wait for a more attractive entry point.
