Westpac's first-half fiscal 2026 cash profit eased 1% from the second half of fiscal 2025 despite a 2% reduction in operating expenses. Softer net interest margins more than offset loan growth. Bad debt expenses increased on provisions to reflect higher credit stress in energy-intensive sectors.
