Sumco Earnings: Long-Term Upside in Artificial Intelligence Offset by China Competition

Sumco's fourth-quarter 2024 revenue was JPY 99 billion, down 5% year on year. Gross margin fell 288 basis points from the year-ago quarter to 16.4%. The numbers were above guidance. Sumco will stop producing wafers with a diameter smaller than 150 mm to improve profitability by the end of 2026.
