Hub Group Earnings: Intermodal Yields Still Pressured, but Container Activity Up Nicely

Hub Group’s third-quarter top line fell 4% year over year and missed our expected run rate due to greater-than-expected yield (revenue per load) declines in the flagship intermodal division. Excluding costs from a recently implemented integration initiative in the final-mile division, Hub's total operating margin was mostly in line, as intermodal segment underperformance was offset by a better-than-expected logistics margin.
