For Morningstar, I'm Jeremy Glaser and welcome to The Week Ahead, our quick take on what investors should have on their radar screens for the week starting July 4.
Will employment data bounce back in June? The answer to that question is the marquee event of the week. Friday's payroll report will be closely watched for a rebound in hiring or a revision to May's dismal numbers. Any signs of mounting wage inflation will also be in focus.
Before the jobs numbers, the minutes from the Fed's June meeting will be released. Those will provide more insight as to what was weighing on the committee when they decided to stay put on rates, and what the future path of rates could look like.
Other data in the week includes factory orders, trade balance, and the ISM Services index.
On the earnings front, we'll hear from PepsiCo and Walgreens.
Stay tuned to Morningstar for our take on all of these stories.
