European Stocks Drift Lower

Stocks in Europe opened weak early Friday, after weak Chinese trade data weighed on metal futures and resource stocks.

At the time of writing, Britain's FTSE, France's CAC and Germany's DAX were off 0.3% to 0.7%.

Miners led the decliners list, tracking losses in copper prices: Xstrata, Anglo American and Vedanta erased about 0.8% each.

Auto stocks also witnessed selling with BMW, Daimler, Renault and Peugeot losing between 0.6% and 2.3%.

Shares in U.K. retailer Tesco rose 0.6% following a broker upgrade.

Elsewhere, Asian markets were trading mixed, with Hang Seng shares off over 1%.
