Europe: Stocks Choppy in Early Trade

Shares in Europe rose early Tuesday but gave back some gains later amid lingering concerns relating to sovereign debt issues.

At 1:15 p.m. (I.S.T.), Germany's DAX rose 0.2%, France's CAC was flat while Britain's FTSE lost 0.2%.

Individual stocks were more in focus as a flurry of companies declared quarterly earnings. ArcelorMittal dropped 1.6% after its results while J Sainsbury Plc was off 0.3%.

In sector movers, financials were broadly higher: Barclays, BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole and Deutsche Bank rose 0.3% to 0.6%.

Elsewhere, Asian markets were mostly higher in early trade spurred by China economic data that showed inflation was showing signs of slowing down.
