Q3 2024: Navigating the Digital and Analog Semiconductor Industry Landscape

Digital chip stocks stay steadily overvalued, while analog stocks stay discounted.

As of September 26, the median overall semiconductor stock is 6% undervalued while the median analog stock is 17% undervalued. Still, digital stocks have steadily stalled in their overvalued state—with a slight uptick from 11% to 12% in the same quarter.


Morningstar’s latest Digital and Analog Semiconductor Industry report highlights the demand for artificial intelligence (AI) and accelerators —a shift particularly led by Nvidia’s data center graphics processing units (GPUs), which is expected to surge through the next few quarters.
