Barbell Strategy

A fixed-income strategy in which the maturities and/or durations of included securities are concentrated at two extremes.

For example, a portfolio may be designed to allocate 50% of its fixed-income securities to maturities of less than three years, while the remaining 50% is held in fixed-income securities with maturities of more than 15 years.
