Best-Performing Stocks of December 2023

Karuna Therapeutics KRTX surged 65.5%, rising 61.1% from the start of the year.

Zillow Group ZG rose 44.0%, having risen 81.7% from the start of the year.

Coinbase Global COIN surged 39.5%, having risen 391.4% from the start of the year. The company’s stock ended the month with a Morningstar Rating of 1 star, trading at a 117% premium to its fair value estimate of $80.

Unity Software U advanced 38.6%, bringing the stock up 43.0% over the year. Shares are 18.4% below their last high on July 19, 2023.

DocuSign DOCU advanced 37.9%, leaving the stock up 7.3% for the year. Shares are 14.4% below their last high on Feb. 16, 2023. The company’s stock ended the month with a Morningstar Rating of 3 stars, trading at a 20% discount to its fair value estimate of $74.

Worst-Performing Stocks of December 2023

Palantir Technologies PLTR slid 14.4% in December but was still up 167.5% for the year. Shares are 21.4% below their last high on Nov. 21, 2023. The company’s stock ended the month with a Morningstar Rating of 2 stars, trading at a 32% premium to its fair value estimate of $13.

Everest Group EG slid 13.9% but was still up 8.7% over the year. Shares are 15.4% below their last high on Nov. 24, 2023.

Aon AON fell 11.4% and declined 2.3% over the year. Shares are 16.2% below their last high on June 30, 2023. The company’s stock ended the month with a Morningstar Rating of 3 stars, trading at its fair value estimate of $291.

Arch Capital Group ACGL slid 11.3% but was still up 18.3% for the year. Shares are 18.1% below their last high on Nov. 1, 2023.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co AJG fell 9.7% but was still up 20.5% for the year. Shares are 11.5% below their last high on Nov. 27, 2023.
