Tempur Sealy buying Mattress Firm Inc. for $4 bln
Tempur Sealy International Inc. (TPX) said Tuesday it will acquire privately-held Mattress Firm Inc. in a deal valued at $4 billion. The transaction comes after Mattress Firm Inc. tabled its initial public offering in January due to market volatility. Tempur Sealy said the deal includes $2.7 billion in cash and $1.3 billion in stock to be issued to Mattress Firm shareholders. Tempur Sealy said it expects to "work cooperatively" with the Federal Trade Commission to complete the acquisition, as expected in the second half of the year.
