IBM Expands AI, Tech Services Unit in Ontario, Canada
By Adriano Marchese
International Business Machines is expanding its cloud and enterprise IT infrastructure services in Ontario as it looks to push AI to more businesses in Canada.
The blue-chip technology company said Tuesday that the expanded Technology Expert Labs team will be based out of IBM Canada's site in Markham, Ontario where the company has its third largest software lab.
The aim of the Technology Expert Labs team is to support Canadian enterprises with the adoption of AI and other technologies such as watsonx, IBM's data and AI platform.
The news follows last week's announcement by IBM and the federal and provincial governments of Canada and Quebec that they would be partnering for a joint 187 million Canadian dollars ($136.9 million) investment to build up IBM's chip packaging operations in Quebec.
