Great-West Lifeco Strategy, Investments Head Arshil Jamal to Retire
By Robb M. Stewart
Great-West Lifeco president and chief operating officer for Europe David Harney will take on an expanded role at the Canadian insurer to include the capital and risk solutions segment as executive Arshil Jamal is retiring after 25 years with the company.
Great-west said Harney will assume the new responsibilities on Feb. 16.
Jamal plans to step down as president and head of strategy, investments, reinsurance and corporate development. During his time at the insurer and asset management firm, Jamal held a number of roles including nine years as president and chief operating officer for Europe and reinsurance.
A year ago, Great-West appointed then-chief actuary Dervla Tomlin as chief risk officer. In May, the company named Job Nielsen as chief financial officer-elect with the planned retirement of Garry MacNicholas.
