Hong Kong Stock Exchange Cancels Morning Trading Due to Weather Alert — Update
By P.R. Venkat
The Hong Kong Stock Exchange has canceled the morning trading session following the issuance of a Black Rainstorm Warning alert.
"Thunderstorm Warning issued at 2:30 p.m. (Hong Kong Time) on 7 Sep 2023 has been extended until 11:00 a.m. (Hong Kong time) today. Squally thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong. Intense gusts reaching 80 kilometers per hour or above may continue to affect Hong Kong," the Hong Kong Observatory said early Friday.
Trading in the afternoon will resume if the rainstorm warning or any announcement of extreme conditions is canceled at or before noon Hong Kong time, Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing said in a statement.
"If a Black Rainstorm Warning, or any announcement of Extreme Conditions, remains issued at 12:00 noon, all trading sessions (including Stock Connect Northbound trading) of the day will be cancelled," it said.
