Full Retirement Age

Full retirement age describes how old you have to be before receiving full Social Security benefits.

This is between 65 and 67, depending on when you were born. Technically, you’re welcome to grab Social Security anytime after 62, but you’ll get smaller checks than if you’d waited until full retirement age.
