Boeing plane skids off runway in Senegal, causing injuries

Tires burst for a Turkish Boeing 737
A Boeing-made plane skidded off a runway in Senegal on Thursday, authorities said, while another from the U.S. company had its tires burst upon landing.
An Air Senegal flight operated by Transair skidded while taking off from Blaise Diagne International Airport, according to a statement from Senegal's infrastructure and transport ministry, which said it will open an investigation.
The government reported 10 injuries, including one pliot, while the airport said there were 11 injuries. The plane - registration 6V-AJE - first flew in 1994, and has been with Transair since December 2023.
Separately, a Boeing 737-800 from Corendon Airlines had one of its tires burst upon landing at Gazipasa airport. No injuries were reported in that incident.
The news comes one day after a Boeing 767 cargo plane dragged its nose across an Istanbul runway after landing gear failed to deploy.
Boeing (BA) has been under intense pressure since a mid-air panel blowout on a 737 Max plane early this year.
Boeing's CEO Dave Calhoun will leave the company at the end of the year, and the head of its commercial airline division is also retiring.
Boeing shares have tumbled by 31% this year.
