Merck KGaA Supervisory Board Chairman Wolfgang Buechele to Step Down
By Adria Calatayud
Germany's Merck KGaA said Supervisory Board Chairman Wolfgang Buechele will step down from his role and become chairman of the board of partners of the Merck family's holding company.
The life-sciences and chemicals group said Monday that its supervisory board will elect a new chair shortly. Buechele will step down as supervisory-board chairman prior to this year's annual general meeting, the company said.
Buechele was elected chairman of the board of partners of E. Merck KG, the company through which the Merck family holds around 70% of Merck KGaA, the company said. A board of partners is comparable to a supervisory board and is formed by family and nonfamily members.
