Utilities Down As Traders Hedge On Rate View - Utilities Roundup
Shares of power-plant operators ticked down as traders hedged their bets on the outlook for interest rates. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note ticked up again Wednesday after a spike in rates hastened a stock-market plunge on Monday. Shares of Atmos Energy and Xcel Energy rose after the utilities reported quarterly earnings that surpassed some investors' growth expectations. Enel said its U.S. renewables company Enel Green Power North America has signed a partnership agreement with Alberta Investment Management to sell nearly half of its shares in two wind-farm projects to be built in Alberta, Canada.
