Australian Housing Finance Falls in December

SYDNEY--The number of Australian home-loan approvals fell a seasonally adjusted 2.3% in December from November, the Bureau of Statistics said Friday.
Economists surveyed ahead of the announcement had expected a fall of 1.0%.
The value of loans for investment housing fell 2.6% from November, the ABS said.
Finance approvals to build new houses fell 1.1% in December from November. Approvals to buy newly built dwellings fell 3.8%, while lending for the purchase of established homes fell 2.3% in the month.
