Shares of oil and gas companies fell alongside oil futures amid fears that U.S. production was rising and a trade war was brewing. Exxon Mobil is ending ambitious Arctic projects with Russia's state-controlled energy giant Rosneft because of international sanctions on Moscow, abandoning a deal brokered by its former chief executive, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. Separately, Russian President Vladimir Putin made a hawkish speech, drawing attention to new nuclear capabilities.
