Shares of industrial and transportation companies fell after a rebound in oil futures weighed on some freight firms. Shares of package-delivery giants UPS and FedEx fell.

Defense contractors initially rose after President Trump declared the ceasefire with Iran over. Northrop Grumman, RTX and others gave back their gains after Trump said any strikes were unlikely to cause a return to a longer-term war.
