Bank of Communications' First-Half Net Profit Rose 4.8%

Bank of Communications Co. said Friday that first-half net profit rose 4.8%, buoyed by higher net interest income.
The Chinese lender's net profit rose to 44.04 billion Chinese yuan ($6.43 billion), compared with net profit of CNY42.02 billion a year ago.
Net interest income rose to CNY85.09 billion from CNY78.49 billion, while net operating income rose to CNY143.57 billion from CNY134.05 billion.
The bank said it will continue to increase credit support to areas and industries affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, and also enhance its digital services in the second half of the year.
