AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. said Thursday that it has suspended mining activity at its Obuasi gold mine in Ghana to conduct a rescue operation following a fall of ground.
The Johannesburg-based mining company said an employee is missing following a fall of ground at one of its mining stopes at the mine and it is putting effort into a search and rescue operation.
The company said it will provide an update on the situation in due course.
