Shares of Duke Energy Corp. rose more than 4% on Monday after The Wall Street Journal reported that activist investor Elliott Management Corp. has a stake in Charlotte, N.C., utility giant.
Elliott is pushing Duke to add directors to its board and possibly take other actions to boost its stock price, the Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
Duke shares were recently up 4.5% at $105.37 after hitting a 52-week high of $108 earlier in the session.
