Waste Management Inc.'s profit and sales beat Wall Street's expectations in the latest quarter.
The Houston-based company Thursday reported net income attributable to the company of $438 million in the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, down from $447 million a year ago. It booked earnings of $1.03 a share, versus $1.05 last year.
Adjusted earnings were $1.13 a share. Analysts polled by FactSet expected $1.09 a share.
Sales rose to $4.07 billion from $3.85 billion a year ago. Analysts expected sales of $3.97 billion.
