What is the Morningstar Quantitative Rating™ for stocks?

The Morningstar Quantitative Rating for stocks assigns a stock’s fair value, economic moat, valuation, and uncertainty estimates based on a statistical model designed to mimic the Morningstar Rating™ our analysts use.

This statistical modeling tool was designed to expand the coverage of equities Morningstar covers. It was designed to mimic the decision-making behaviors of Morningstar equity analysts. Equities analyzed by this tool have a “Q” superscript next to their respective rating. As the Morningstar Quantitative Rating for stocks is statistically derived, ratings can be generated more frequently than other Morningstar equity ratings.
