On Feb. 28, 2023, MassMutual announced that Michael Abata, who joined the firm's multi-asset team as a strategist in 2022, was promoted to comanager of the MassMutual RetireSMART by J.P. Morgan target-date series. He joins Rick Schulitz, MassMutual's multi-asset head who was serving as the series' sole manager from the firm. (Two J.P. Morgan managers are named on the series as well.) This change does not impact the series' Average People rating, and its Morningstar Analyst Rating continues to be Neutral for the six cheapest share classes and Negative for the most expensive shares. Abata previously served as an analyst and portfolio manager for Invesco from 2011-20, and also worked for Putnam as a portfolio manager from 1997-2008.
