John Hancock's Co-Head of Asset Allocation to Retire; No Change to Ratings

Analyst Note

| |

Effective July 12, 2018, Bob Boyda is no longer a portfolio manager on John Hancock's suite of target-date funds, target-risk funds, or its multimanager alternatives fund. Boyda will remain with the firm in an advisory role until he officially retires in the first quarter of 2019. Nathan Thooft, who was named co-head of asset allocation along with Boyda in 2015, will now be the sole head. Thooft joined the funds' portfolio manager roster in 2013 and had been increasingly taking over the day-to-day responsibilities of the funds. The team continues to sport a deep bench with 14 investment analysts and access to the firm's impressive manager selection team. This continues to support the funds' Positive ratings for People, and there is no impact to the funds' Morningstar Analyst Ratings.
