How can private equity be benchmarked?
Sanjay Arya, CFA, is head of Investible Products, Morningstar Indexes. In this role, he is responsible for strategy, product development, and managing strategic relationships.
Arya founded the indexes group in 2001 and has guided the development of a broad suite of traditional equity, bond, and commodity beta indexes. Leveraging Morningstar’s proprietary research, Arya also led the creation of a series of strategic-beta and multi-asset class indexes. Through partnerships with asset managers, asset owners, and retirement plans, he has steered the creation of index-linked investment solutions that have $68 billion in assets.
Arya previously was director of equity data analysis. He joined Morningstar in 1993. He is a frequent speaker at industry forums and has written and contributed several thought leadership pieces in industry publications and books. He sits on the board of Index Industry Association.
Arya holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Panjab University, India, and a master’s degree in business administration from Cleveland State University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a member of the Investment Analysts Society of Chicago.
