More About Thomas Murphy

Tom Murphy, CFA, is a manager research analyst for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He covers fixed-income strategies.

Before joining Morningstar in 2022, Murphy spent four years working at Franklin Templeton as an investment specialist covering fixed-income strategies. Prior to that, he worked on a wealth management team at Northwestern Mutual.

Murphy holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Creighton University. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

How we make money

Our investment management business generates asset-based fees, which are calculated as a percentage of assets under management. We also sell both admissions and sponsorship packages for our investment conferences and advertising on our websites and newsletters.
