Morningstar Talks Market Turmoil

Editor’s note: Read the latest on how the coronavirus is rattling the markets and what investors can do to navigate it.

Editor's Note: On March 12, Morningstar held a virtual town hall for all of its employees. About a third of our global workforce tuned in live, most of whom were working from home. As you will see, the video wasn't produced in a studio. Some of our panelists were patched in from home, reflecting how we worked. We heard from many on our team, especially those who haven't experienced a sudden market sell-off in their adult lives, that they found information very helpful. We're now opening the town hall to you in the hope that it can provide some answers about how you should interpret recent news and market events.

Our panel was hosted by Christine Benz, director of personal finance. She interviewed Andrew Lill, chief investment officer for North America of Morningstar Investment Management; Sarah Bush, manager research practice leader for North America; Karen Andersen, equity strategist on the healthcare team; and Preston Caldwell, equity analyst on the energy team.

A couple of things to note: Christine collectively introduces these members of respective investment management and analyst research teams as "experts" and we would like to clarify that they are not giving individualized advice. Morningstar employees often refer to our Investment Management group as "MIM" which you will hear a few references to. Please stay tuned for important disclosure information at the conclusion of this video.

We are evaluating more productions like this for you during these times of uncertainty. If you have questions or comments, I'd love to hear from you at editorinchief@morningstar.com.

The video has been lightly edited to remove internal communications (such as how to submit questions) and a few comments that may be construed as advice.
