The Week Ahead: What Will the Consumer Sentiment Index Reveal?

We're watching news from Nike, AutoZone, and more, with economic data releases set for Friday.

We begin the week looking for earnings from Cantel Medical CMD. The hospital-supplies manufacturer has a narrow moat with its endoscopy and water purification segments because of intangible assets and high customer switching costs.

On Tuesday, we will be watching earnings from Nike NKE. Coming off negative earnings last quarter, Nike is hoping to bounce back with first-quarter fiscal 2020 results. Automotive retailer AutoZone AZO will also report.

Reports from Conagra Brands CAG, which recently previewed an extensive list of innovative new products focusing on its frozen food, and Micron Technology MU, which has performed well throughout 2019 compared with other technology sectors, are due Thursday.

Weekly jobless claims and gross domestic product revision will also be released Thursday. Among other data, on Friday we are looking for releases of personal income, consumer spending, and core inflation for August, as well as the consumer sentiment index.
