The Week Ahead: All Eyes on Apple

It looks set to be a busy week as July wraps up.

Earnings seasons rolls on, with Apple on Tuesday being one of the most closely watched reports. As the firm approaches the $1 trillion market-cap mark, investors will be searching for signs of how iPhone demand is holding up and if add-on products and services are still a bright spot.

Lagging sales have been an ongoing problem for Procter & Gamble according to analyst Erin Lash, but over the long term she thinks the investments being made behind core brands will pay off. The firm reports Tuesday.

Kraft Heinz, due Friday, has also had recent top-line struggles.

Other earnings include Caterpillar, BP, CBS, and Yum Brands.

The Fed meets this week but isn’t expected to raise rates on Wednesday. Still, the market expects the central bank to move at its next meeting in September.

The Jobs report on Friday will reveal if hiring has remained robust and if a tight labor market is leading to higher wages.

We’ll also be watching for consumption numbers, the ISM manufacturing and services gauges, factory orders, and auto sales.

Stay tuned for our take on these stories.
