What triggers headaches? For some (like me), mowing the lawn can lead to head pain. For others, over-imbibing chocolate or red wine is the culprit. Still others suffer after spending too much time in the sun or staring at a computer screen for too long.
Just as many different things can lead people to rush for the ibuprofen, so too can many different factors drive our analysts to change their fair value estimates--either up or down--on a given stock. Sometimes the changes are small, thanks to a tweak to our models based on an update to our time value of money. Other times, however, changes can be more significant, driven by new information from company management or emerging trends in an industry, among other factors.
