The Week Ahead: FedEx, Darden, and Oracle Earnings

Jeremy Glaser: After a busy week of geopolitical intrigue, data releases, and central bank news, this week brings a handful of earnings.

FedEx had solid pricing, volume, and execution last quarter, according to analyst Keith Schoonmaker. He sees the firm's competitive advantages as intact and expects the company to be able to increase profitability over time as it invests in automation, re-fleeting, and in improving the performance of its TNT acquisition. Shares are fairly valued ahead of earnings.

Olive Garden parent Darden has been an intriguing turnaround story. Changes to promotional strategies sent the stock lower after last quarter's earnings, but analyst R.J. Hottovy thinks the firm's solid operational foundation should open up growth opportunities over time.

Other earnings include Oracle, which Rodney Nelson points out has seen sputtering cloud growth, and grocery store operator Kroger.

Housing starts and existing home sales are also due.

Stay tuned for our take on these stories.
